“EXPERIENCE NOT EXPERIMENT” Bill Bittner was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. He moved to Columbia in 1980, and now resides in Elkridge, MD. Bill is married to June and has three children: Carole Jeanne, David and Christopher. He is the proud grandfather of Stephanie, Leigh, Joshua, Scott and Jack. Bill pursued higher education at Northwest Missouri State University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Baltimore. Bill is self-employed as an Associate Broker for Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc. in Columbia, involved in sales and marketing. He has been in real estate for over 30 years. Bill is past president of the Howard County Board of Realtors, the Central Maryland Multiple List System and the Howard County Million Dollar Club. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of Realtors and the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors. In 1998 Bill was appointed as a Maryland Real Estate Commissioner by the then Governor of Maryland Parris Glendenning. He served on this Commission until 2004.Prior to entering the real estate profession, Bill worked 16 years for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Baltimore as an agency manager. In civic activities, Bill has served on the Board Directors of the Howard County Y.M.C.A., the Howard County Domestic Violence Center and several condominium associations. He retired with 32 years of service in the U.S. Naval Reserves and is a Fourth Degree member of the Columbia Council of the Knights of Columbus. Since 1978 he has been a Eucharistic Minister for St. Johns Roman Catholic Church in Columbia. Bill has chaired many committees for the Howard County Chamber of Commerce, the Tourism Council, the Community Housing Resource Board, and the Toy for Tots Program. He was an 18 year member of the Columbia Rotary Club and served as Vice-President. Bill has coached Little League and Adult League Baseball for 24 years.
